19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and regular reactions on court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, took control to force a final set.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
